In what was a major move in the podcasting space Descript acquired SquadCast. SquadCast is an excellent remote audio recording service (many of us call a double-ender). Double-ender software is a well populated market, however SquadCast is my personal favorite. Descript adding SquadCast to their offering, without increasing their prices, is a huge value for podcasters! You’ll be able to record, edit, and publish all in the same place.

It will take time for SquadCast to be integrated into the Descript ecosystem. Current Descript subscribers are still able to access the standalone version of SquadCast for free. In the future, Descript will be the landing place for both pieces of technology.
While unexpected, I think this move serves to strengthen Descript’s standing in the podcast space.
