Even though PowerPress is software, RSS feed generation and management typically falls into the service category. That being said, I added my write-up for it in the software category of FreePodcastTools.com.
PowerPress boasts that it is the #1 podcasting plugin for WordPress. Their messaging insists PowerPress has over one hundred features and is used by over 75,0000 podcasters. Beyond the hyperbole, PowerPress is an extremely well thought out, easy to use and fully functional WordPress plugin.
A feature called ‘category podcasting’ allows podcasters to generate multiple RSS feeds from a single WordPress website. PowerPress offers podcasters subscription, or follow, tools via a short code or by using a sidebar widget. Their skip-to-position-in-player allows users to jump to a timestamp in the episode in the media player on the website. Besides these features, PowerPress also gives you the ability to upload album and episode artwork, set a rating for your podcast (e.g., G, mature, etc…) and much more.
Creating a podcast episode is as easy as creating a blog post on your WordPress website. Once podcasting is added to a particular category, all of the podcast specific fields are revealed. Not all fields are mandatory, and it should be noted that PowerPress doesn’t require you to host your media files with their parent company Blubrry in order to use the plugin.
If you are a podcaster looking to build your brand by creating a WordPress website, PowerPress is a great option for creating and managing your podcast’s RSS feed.
PowerPress is a product by Blubrry. Apparently, they could not afford the e’s (their words, not mine). With a great plugin like this, you cannot afford to miss giving PowerPress a try.
