When it comes to budget condenser microphones, plenty of brand names come to mind, but I would guess Saramonic isn’t one of them. Saramonic is known for their wireless microphones used in film, and other content creation. Although in recent years they’ve done a great job of diversifying their audio gear portfolio. The Saramon SR-BV4 first appeared on my radar in spring of 2023. While it took a long time for the microphone to become available in the United States, it is well worth the wait. From the design to the solid build quality, the Saramonic SR-BV4 is a winner. Much like Saramonic’s MV-Mixer audio interface the SR-BV4 is well constructed.

There’s no listed measurement for self-noise, however in my test it appears to be similar to (actually a little better than) Lewitt’s LCT-240 Pro. We know that mic has a self-noise of 19 dB (A) so I’d be fairly confident that the SR-BV4 is in the ballpark.

There are only two things I dislike about this microphone. Both issues I have surround the included shock mount. The stand adapter is pretty paltry and the knob that’s used for the pop filter untightens when moved back. These are small nitpicks but things to consider before purchasing the microphone. Otherwise, I truly enjoy the SR-BV4.

Do you think the Saramonic SR-BV4 sounds like a winner to your ears? How do you compare the sound quality to the Shure SM7B? I’d love to hear your thoughts on those questions and any other comments you have.
