In this video I review the #behringer D2 Podcast Pro microphone. It was announced earlier this year and my anticipation was very high. When the D2 arrived I picked up the box and noticed the lack of heft. I let the box sit on my floor for days before I decided to begin my review. Once out of the box the low-quality build was in full view. There are plenty of included accessories, however the shock mount and windscreen are both useless in my opinion.
When it comes to sound quality the Behringer D2 offers little. The microphone’s tone isn’t simply flat, it’s nonexistent. It is lifeless and dull. From what I’ve heard even their sub thirty dollar XM8500 microphone performs circles around this.
If Behringer releases any further products aimed at podcasters they had better knock it out of the park. I will skip purchasing any further products from them unless I am sure they have done their due diligence in the development stage. Simply put, the Behringer D2 Podcast Pro should have never seen the light of day in its current form.
